THE EAST WESTSIDE GANG
By Jeff Echevarria
In the bustling medieval town of Water’s Edge, there was an outlying village a few stone throws east called, strangely enough, Westside, where cobblestone streets wound their way between thatched-roof cottages and lively market stalls. There, an unlikely gang of friends roamed the streets and alleys, their adventures the stuff of legend.
At the heart of the gang was a young, tomboyish peasant girl named Alex, short for Alexandria. With a mischievous twinkle in her eye and a spirit as wild as the winds that swept across the fields, Alex spent her days selling sunflowers to help support her struggling family to make ends meet. But when the sun dipped below the horizon, and the shadows grew long, she joined her friends in the East Westside Gang, their bond unbreakable and their adventures endless.
By her side stood a rooster named Rufus, whose cocky demeanor and bold antics belied his small stature. With feathers as bright as the dawn and a crow that could be heard from miles around, Rufus was the self-appointed leader of the gang, at least that’s what he thought, always ready to charge headfirst into whatever mischief awaited them.
Next was Norman, a rather enormous and lazy hog who preferred napping in the sun to any adventure. With a snort and a grunt, Norman could usually be found lounging in the shade of a nearby oak tree, his belly full of stolen apples and his dreams filled with the promise of endless feasts.
Finally, there was Katie, a magnificent blue butterfly who fluttered through the air with grace and beauty. Despite her delicate appearance, Katie was as tough as they come. Her wings were a blur of color as he darted between the trees and rooftops, keeping a watchful eye on the village below.
Together, the East Westside Gang members embarked on countless escapades, from daring heists to wild chases through the streets. They were a sight to behold, their laughter ringing through the village like the clangor of church bells, their friendship a beacon of light in a world filled with darkness.
Even though their adventures often landed them in trouble, they faced each challenge with courage and determination, their bond growing stronger each and every day.
