Young Carol Anderson had a charming pug dog named “Peter McPeeterson Peters”.
She mostly kept him in her room and imagined if he could talk, . . . and when no one
was around, he did. He liked to talk about things that involved treats, how to get treats,
and if the treats were tasty, . . . or just weird. When he wasn’t interested in the
conversation, or it went to a place that wasn’t “food-centric” he nodded off.
He called her imaginary version of her pug, “Sleepy Pete”.
Sometimes she acted out at the dinner table by pretending to nod off when she thought
the dinner discussion ran a little long in the boring places. She would blame Sleepy Pete
for her “sleepiness” and fake snoring, . . . but never in front of company as even Sleepy
Pete thought that was rude.
