Kristin Kwan is an artist making figurative paintings and drawings with a bent to the otherworldly. She is inspired both by the natural world and by legends and myths, using elements of fantasy and allegory to explore themes of life, death, and rebirth. Kristin is a graduate of Union College in Lincoln, NE, she is the 2022 grand prize winner of the Beautiful Bizarre Art Prize. When not in the studio, she can usually be found riding her bike around town, or through the woods, where inspiration is most easy to come by. She currently lives in Lincoln, NE.
This image is inspired by the story of the penitent Magdalene, often depicted in Baroque art, and by the short story The Distance of the Moon by Italo Calvino.
