I was overwhelmed with the need to build an interactive marble run upon reading The Fisherman and His Soul. I adore the morbidity and romantic lunacy of sacrificing one's soul for a dream and it was imperative that a physical representation of one's own soul by way of a shadowy marble down a track exist. I was struck by the phrase '"My Soul is nought to me," he answered. "I cannot see it. I may not touch it. I do not know it."' It felt like a dare to create a piece in direct playful affront to those assertions.
