‘Hygelmaize’ is an idea that I have been building over the last few years with my partner Nom Kinnear King. It began as a simple idea of a themed party, a gathering of folks to break up the dreary winter and welcome in the spring. We Have had three Hygelmaize celebrations so far and with each year the mythology of it grows. The ‘Hygel’ is a huge antlered owl, whos coming portends the changing of the season. Those who celebrate will adorn themselves in the guise of a woodland animal and gather together to welcome the Hygle and the changing of the seasons.
