My main inspiration for the composition, background and figure stance were the portraits of Angolo and Maddalena Doni by Rafael, as well as the lady portraits by Domenico Pulligo and the master of Mansi Magdalen ("Portrait of a Lady" and "The Magdalene holding a book of hours").
