Created from: The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde, published in 1920's. The Victorian era introduced the dog as an indoor pet, a traveling companion, a status symbol of lavishness. The era also glorified any exotic and so a page from an old atlas is used in the background to represent travel to foreign lands. Gwendolen is the name of a character from the play and cocker spaniels have always seemed to be a dog that resembles that upper class and would revel in the finery of the era.
