My work entitled ‘Ghost Reveries’ depicts a ghostly face in serene reverie emerging from a skull and bouquet still life arrangement. The painting is an ode to the otherworldly and spectral found in books such as ‘Wuthering Heights’ by Emily Bronte, ‘The Mysteries of Udolpho’ by Ann Radcliffe and ‘The Castle Otranto’ by Horace Walpole. At the heart of this work is my deep affection and interest in gothic literature plus musings about the afterlife.
