Created from: Best Loved Unity Poems, published 1953. Inscription: “Kindest of wishes to you, Enna Schmidt. Marie P Hannibal”. This little book was published by Unity School of Christianity located in Lee’s Summit, MO. With there being many farms in that area – and even an illustration of a farm in the book (which I used as the background) I felt two pigs would make the best familiars – one being Enna and the other Marie. These two are inseparable – like the mailman, rain, sleet or snow can not keep them apart - there is always something to gossip about. Best friends since the 1950’s, they grew up on the farm and once they were old enough, they ran off to Kansas City to experience urban life. After a few years, they decide to head back to the family farm where life was peaceful, lush and filled with the family they missed. The cloud and rain sewn into this piece has five different colors of vintage thread.
