Inspiration: Much of the mythology surrounding eclipses involves the sun being devoured, but among all the stories of fearsome gods and beasts, one stood out: a Choctaw legend that attributes the disappearance of the sun to the nibbling of a black squirrel. I love the idea of a small creature causing a great celestial event. Here is a link to the story: https://www.firstpeople.us/FP-Html-Legends/EclipseOfTheSunBlamedOnBlackSquirrel-Choctaw.html
