This drawing is named after the Dance of the Hours, a dance seen in the opera La Gioconda, depicting the times of day - Morning, Twilight and Night. The lace patterns in the drapery are created by applying gold size with a dip pen then adding gold leaf. I have used two colours of gold leaf to show transition from day to night.
