This social documentary photobook explores Eric's life as a secondary school student in a Wellington state school in the 1970's. The first section includes images shot at the school in 1999 accompanied by ongoing newspaper reports of a 1980's scandal involving the videoing of boys being caned by the headmaster. The second section is a narrative of Eric's experience of the violence at that school and each section is accompanied by dark photographic metaphors. In essence it explores the impact of violence and toxic masculinity - the damage it causes and the choices people can make to behave differently and to flourish despite what they have gone through.
