The ghost light is another tradition aimed at appealing to the resident “spirits” of the theater. Even during a scene with a blackout, a single bare lightbulb is left on stage so the ghosts can still perform. Doing so will prevent the human actors from getting haunted. I leave offerings of all sorts in my garden, including many “ghost lights.”
