This work is part of a series called "Momento Mori", painted during the early days of the Covid-19 crisis in 2020-2021.

The series reflects on the effects of the virus and the state of the world, and also the light in the darkness, the hope for the future.

For example, "Fervendo/Boiling (Momento Mori 9)" shows a tumultuous, obscured scene - the Amazon on fire (as it was during 2020, when large swaths of the rainforest were being burnt for farmland), but the next panel is "Aurora/Dawn (Momento Mori 10) - from the darkness of the 9th painting we are taken to a place of renewed hope - the first light of day in blue sky and a new world.
