I am a mixed media artist who specializes in creating fabric prints for wearable art and furniture design through my photographs of historic landmarks, nature and my original abstract paintings. Initially, I build a large body of work in photographs and then scale it down to the design that speaks to me most. Eventually that may be one or several photographs which get reworked into a repeat pattern on fabric through a variety of experiments with different color palettes, layouts and design. Typically, the end result will be the simplest design that has some notion of 'clever'. In essence, I use the modern technology of a digital camera and digital printer to create the environmentally friendly fabric and then craft it with vintage machinery and as often as possible, use methods of upcycling. My favorite feature of my work is when the historic themed pieces become a walking educational tool.
I aspire to work in a company of creatives. One that honors the talents of artists, while respecting the history of culture too. Otherwise, the environment feels very homogenized and has no distinction from others. I am a global citizen with local passion.
