Blue paint flows and pools and dries on the synthetic Yupo surface giving the essence of organic life rhythms. The nature of the paper is such that it is non-absorbent, paint sits on the surface. When paint is suspended in water, the non-absorbent quality supports unpredictable movement of the medium, taking control out of the hands of the artist. It can produce some luscious effects. It makes me think of scriptural references to water as a force that can not be tamed. I'm excited to explore this series. It grew out of fascination with the Yupo when used as part of collage material on metal leaf. It has grown into it's own for exploration.
