This beautiful exfoliating birch bark stands out against the smoother beech and poplar. There are fantastic colors there if you get close, which I always do. There is an abstract quality in that close up which I find intriguing and which reminds me of my graphite drawings of bittersweet and contorted hazelnut.
Several diagonal lines give the composition momentum and a sense of movement. It would be lovely hung as a diptych with CW Birch 1A.
