layer over layer, trying this and that, having a discussion, making decisions about what comes next....Many of my 12x12 works start as what I call play panels. I always have a panel that I use to “wipe” the excess paint off my brush when I am working on a larger piece. On these 12x12’s I experiment, add colors, don’t pay attention, pay attention, and really just let loose on them. Inevitably, something takes shape and as I add layers and layers, eventually the play panel becomes a working piece of art as it directs me to where it wants to go.
