Created on the beach in Ocean City, MD in the summer of 2024. I used ocean water, sand, and Winsor and Newton watercolors to create the depth and texture of the background. The color theory implemented is based on turquoise stone and its symbolic properties. The Unalome in the foreground is both a Buddhist and Hindu symbol representing a path to freedom, or life path and consisting of 3 parts: the spiral (direction from inward to outward), the swirl (mental awareness leading to introversion), and the straight line (clarity and focus).
Watercolor, pen, and colored wax pencil on 140 lb. paper mounted on cradled wood. All measures taken to ensure archival preservation including satin varnish, gesso, and wax.
