This painting went through many phases. The first phase (painting one) was a pastel colored landscape that I dreamed of one night. The second phase (painting two) was painted with my hands, essentially a finger-painting, using blues, purples, and white. This was in response to news of child sex trafficking around the globe. The third phase (painting three) took place in honor of the passing of Thich Nhat Hanh, who wrote the book 'Zen and the Art of Saving the Planet'. White feathers and a large, white circle that said "may I be light in mind, body, and spirit" was painted on January 22, 2023. The fourth phase (painting four) was a dark, swirling vortex. The fifth phase (painting five) the green vines were added. The final phase resulted in the painting being slashed and then stitched back up using embroidery thread. This final phase I am leaving up for open interpretation for the viewer.
