Inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe as a child, I have always been fascinated with the insides of flowers. This lovely water lily (aka Nymphaea odoranta) was a study in painting white on white silk. There are no white silk dyes....the space must be left white and shades of gray and other reflected colors bring out the beauty of the flower.
Materials: 16mm Habotai high quality silk, varnished on to 1 3/4" gallery canvas. An extra coat of UV quality varnish was the last coat and enhances the sheen of the natural silk. Water Lily in the Morning is enhanced by a beautiful solid wood black floater frame.
