Pets are the best. They’re a part of our family—all warm and soft and snuggly. And you know what? All that soft fur is a lot of fun to paint.

And so what could be more special to commemorate our fur babies than with custom pet paintings?

My most recent commission was a pet painting, a recreation of my client’s cat in oils. Because I almost always work from photographs, I found it second nature to paint this cat’s likeness from the photo she sent me.

I love detail work, especially when it comes to painterly textures. This cat’s soft fur and the cozy blanket were great fun to recreate. My favorite part is the white of the canvas glowing through those shiny, green eyes.
