It's amazing how easily we as humans forget things. Every Sunday, my friend and I get together with a handful of girls in the tiny, run-down little church on top of the mountain. We paint, we share our hearts, and open the Bible to learn more about our Creator. It really is a little slice of heaven in my week, to let everything go, let my creativity run free in a place full of love, without judgement, and share together about the One that gives my life so much joy and purpose. And, every Sunday, after hours of beautiful conversations, I drive back down the mountain. Exhausted from sharing so deeply, but with a full heart, I fix my eyes on the road and let my mind wander. And, every Sunday, I forget the beauty awaiting me just around the corner.
There is nothing that takes your breath away so much as a view that you're not expecting. And, every week, I forget it is there. But without fail, as I turn the corner, my eyes are greeted with a sweeping landscape of rolling hills and valleys, of magnificent gums with slender trunks in every shade of red and white and brown. My heart sings for joy as the birds call farewell to the sun as its final rays of light peek over the mountain, casting their shadows over the landscape and bathing the long grass in a golden light as it sways in the afternoon breeze. This beautiful Australian bush is home.
Every Sunday, just around that corner, I am reminded of the One loves me unconditionally. The One who causes the sun to rise and set, the Master Artist begins to paint the sky, gradually adding gold and pink and purple. A display that serves no purpose but to delight its onlookers - a gift straight from my Father to me. This piece depicts the Mt Morgan range at the 'Lookout', in the last rays of sun, as the world waits in anticipation for the magnificent artwork about to be displayed.
