This piece specifically draws inspiration from the Larsen-C ice shelf off of Antarctica. The title references the geologic occurrences of glacial streams which cause glacial breaks or calving. The Glacial Lake Missoula flood that formed the Columbia Gorge during the last ice age is also referenced.
