In the summer of 2000, Tom and I roadtripped from Seattle to Sonoma County for a friend's wedding. We drove down the 101 thru redwoods and sequoias, then along the spectacular Pacific coastline. We slept in the bed of his Toyota pickup, and somewhere along the way, we got engaged.
The drive was thrilling ~ hairpin turns revealing endless vistas of sheer rocky cliffs and the seductive violence of the water below.
20 years later, these memories still surface in my work.
