I work very intuitively, layering and masking my photos, adjusting until the composition speaks to me. Using up to 30+ layers of images I’m very aware of the interplay. With this I totally embrace the happy accident. I turned an image I took of the Antelope slot canyon on it’s side. Suddenly it seemed to form a woman’s calf, then working with some soft photos I had taken of my hands, I completed the abstract hint of a woman body. I integrated spikes and sharp forms in the upper left corner symbolizing pain many women experience with abuse and sexism. The floating circular forms are jellyfish, giving the form an underwater feel. We all began life floating in a protected womb.
