This monochrome collage was assembled from a couple of pages torn from an old - probably late 1880s - “Musique Pour Piano” book of scores which included an engraved frontispiece of the composer and several lines of typography in different fonts and weights. Black and white acrylics were brushed over one of the sheets of music which was later cut into 3 cm wide strips… the portrait engraving keeping wider borders. Many of the scores and typography strips were arranged on a sheet of white A4 Canson Imagine cartridge paper in a jumbled manner but with the typography being heavier top and bottom of the composition… the overall monochromatic result is a departure from my usual more colourful geometric abstract efforts, but pleasing in my mind.
