I have always been inspired by the beauty of how clouds form and reshape and the inherent drama of where the sky meets hills and tree lines. My paintings are done in pastel or gouache (or a combination of both) on cold press watercolor paper or oil paints on canvas or gesso treated boards.
The “imaginary landscapes” I create always have a high degree of “realism” and are often based on actual landscapes that I discover nearby or those that I tap my from my memory. I consider one of my paintings successful if the comments they evoke are ones that contain words like peaceful, relaxing, beautiful and serene. I am not about creating clever or puzzling images but rather I am intent on making images that calms and relaxes but yet engages the viewer.
