George Cuddeback (1943 - 2010) A Tampa, Florida native, he holds a Fine Arts Degree from the University of South Florida. He took up photography in the mid 1980s, when he was able to finally invest in good camera equipment. Cuddeback uses a 35mm camera, a 4-by-5-inch medium format Hassleblad and a large, 8-by-10-inch wooden view camera to capture his images. A typical 20-by-24-inch photo contains a collection of images taken in Florida, often from around the family's cabin in Nobleton along the Withlacoochee River.
In an age of digital cameras, Cuddeback jokes that his darkroom method to many people might seem obsolete. But to him, it's the ultimate in artistic expression, captivating his imagination and creativity so profoundly that he can spend an entire weekend in his large darkroom.
