Light-based artist Adam Rose has taken his experience as an Off-Broadway lighting designer/lighting programmer and created photographic works that transform the way the viewer understands how light can be used. He meticulously crafts and lights white temporary sculptures which are photographed in ways that distort the viewer’s understanding of depth, scale, and form. Often describing them as "Light Paintings", Adam sees these works as a rejection of the notion for deeper spiritual, civil, or emotional meaning in art. These Light Paintings exist to inspire beauty and wonder by using light in a way that is unexpected and surprising.
Each image is printed through a dye-sublimation process onto aluminum. The print is then flush mounted to a hand crafted white wooden frame. Sintra backing is affixed to the aluminum and a cutout window shows the piece's title, size, edition number, and artists signature permanently marked onto the back of the metal.
Attached to the frame is a french cleat, allowing the piece to be hung as soon as it arrives.
