In this dreamlike painting a crow perched on a leafless branch, peers into the window as if returning my look. Beyond the crow, the landscapes recedes to a distant mountain. The window panes fracture the scene into tiles and create a translucent impervious impediment between the two environments. The interior is an antique American Colonial, the door to the left is swung open, suggesting an open path to the outside, and the room beyond to the right is flooded in light pouring in through the unseen side windows. The light from outside illuminates the table and the two objects that lay upon it, an apple and a kettle. A chau gong sits silently on the windowsill. The Crow looks in.
