Empowering the Human-Nature Collaboration
Cross into the reverse-coloring-book world where humans honor heart-felt emotions first, before drawing the line.

"My studio is located in a woodland garden at the confluence of fresh and salt water, where the largest estuary in North America, the Chesapeake Bay Watershed becomes one with the Atlantic Ocean. The Crossing taps into the aquifer beneath the landscape of six states; Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, Delaware, New York, and the District of Columbia. The single tree in the painting, the purple spirit stick of the 7th chakra is the backbone, connecting that which we have only dreamt of ~ with what we may now accomplish."
The post-pandemic heart-centered world manifests as we step 'out of the woulds' into the emerging co-creative world. The painting activates yellow gold chakra energy of the solar plexus, boosting our innate ability to be assertive and make choices from a place of inner wisdom. Vibrant turquoise sparks 5th chakra communication between heart and spirit. Heart-centered greens emerge as we accept love, forgiveness, and compassion.
IN THE STUDIO (VIDEO) The visceral feeling of this work rises from my deep healing experiences of my body/body of earth, as I too recover my own divine connection with Nature. Painting during the pandemic, rays of sunlight cast shadow patterns from trees outside the studio windows onto the canvases. I followed Nature's suggestion by drawing with willow charcoal, turquoise, and deep purple washed oils. Translucent India Yellow followed ~ releasing a kind of automatic drawing that scratched open the veil, revealing the landscape on the other side of the river. As I stepped back, I laughed aloud when I saw the pun of 'crossing out of the woods /woulds', a very personal joke with my own trauma recovery.
