Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in all the earth. Psalm 46:10
Out of nowhere, the weather changed. A furious squall tossed the small fishing boat, nearly swamping it with the waves and the disciples were very afraid. So how was Jesus able to sleep through this? Mark 5:35-41 tells this story and how the disciples, frantic with fear, woke Jesus up and asked if he cared that they were about to drown! Jesus simply got up and spoke to the wind and waves saying, "Peace! Be still!" and the storm immediately stopped. Just as Jesus commands the elements to "Be Still," he also asks us to be still and consider all He has done to make sure we are with Him forever. Whether we are in our own personal storm or busily going about our lives, our peace is found in stillness before God. Remember, God has not changed, He alone, stills storms and commands peace with just a word.
