西方藝術發展中,女性一直都是繪畫與雕塑的重要題材,藝術家也以女性作為作品表現的形式,女性以其溫柔的特質、優美的體態、內心的細緻,可視為一種純淨的象徵,孩童的純真對我而言也是如此。女性的身體具有優美、柔和、平滑、純淨等之美感,這樣的美感與我在塑造佛像、菩薩像時所要呈現的觀念是互相呼應的,因此藝術家將他的女性作品以西方的寫實手法融合東方造像中之柔和、柔順、純淨等形式、精神作為展現,並且將作品融入自身所處的文化背景,傳達出內蘊之情感與理念。
In the development of Western art, women have always been an important subject of painting and sculpture. The artist also uses women as the form of expression in my works. Women can be regarded as a symbol of purity, a child’s tenderness, graceful posture, and inner meticulousness. Innocence is the same to me. The female body has a sense of beauty, softness, smoothness, and purity. This sense of beauty echoes the concept that the artist wants to present when he shapes the statues of Buddha and Bodhisattva. Therefore, the artist integrate my female works with the Western realistic techniques and the East. The soft, supple, and pure forms and spirits in the statues are displayed, and the works are integrated into their own cultural background to convey the inner emotions and ideas.
