Conveying the solitude and isolation we all seem to understand in today’s current situations, American artist, Robert Kipness’ mezzotint ‘Nocturne’ invites the viewer to experience the quiet suburban mysteries with the barely present moon lighting the rooftops. Mezzotint is an incredibly laborious printmaking process activating a subtle and often blurry shading that creates a signature velvety darkness. Here, in Nocturne, we feel the darkness and are left to wonder how long the night will last.
