  • Artist: Marjorie Stevens (American, 1902-1992)

Born in Terra Haute, IN on March 8, 1902. Marjorie Leach grew up in Seattle and in 1930 moved to San Francisco where she remained. In 1938 she received a certificate in chiropractics and opened an office on Haight Street. About 1942 she began painting and studied locally with George Post and Dong Kingman. She served on the jury and board of directors of the California State Fair Art Exhibition and won many awards before her demise in San Francisco on Nov. 12, 1992. Although she painted still lifes and landscapes, she specialized in depicting San Francisco's Victorian houses. Member: East Bay AA; Calif. WC Society; American WC Society; SWA.
