"This series is a study of color theory using only red, yellow and blue. This particular one used a wet on wet technique allowing the three colors to physically mix slightly, creating new color as dictated by color theory. Of course, as I often do, I added a drip technique over top." -artist's personal notes.
"Color Theory #1" is a vibrant abstract painting featuring a densely packed array of colorful, organic shapes. The canvas bursts with hues of yellow, red, green, blue, and hints of white, blending together to create a dynamic and lively atmosphere. The shapes give a sense of chaotic growth or an abundant forest floor, with the colors intermingling in a way that suggests depth and movement. Thin, dark lines meander through the composition, adding a layer of contrast and structure to the colorful forms. Dotted patterns in black are scattered throughout, enhancing the texture and complexity of the piece. The overall effect is energetic and immersive, drawing the viewer into a vivid, abstract world.
