Coastal Impressions Small Works Series
"Expand" is one of two oyster shells in this series. It is an abstract creation done in ink with fine gold acrylic on paper.
I particularly love the dark walnut stained area setting the lighter more vibrant areas off. There is a sense of aged depth yet newness to this piece that calls to me. This piece "expand" speaks to the seasons of change in our life where we need to "make room" for things, growing with grace and often those seasons come with growing pains. Think about the growth of the oyster shell as it forms over rocks and ocean beds. The oyster bed has to grow to accommodate the current circumstances just as we do often in life. The dark area just reminds me to stay "solid" even through those seasons of change. When we hold fast through the growth new things can come!
Incorporating the art of Kintsugi. The gold "holds" the frame of this house together! It is better to expand and grow with grace than to fight it.
