On a plein air painting trip I took a photo from the cliffs on the island of Capri, Italy. That photo inspired this representational oil painting. The day was perfect, and the water resembled diamonds sparking on the surface. The softness of the foliage juxtaposed to the jagged mountain edges was mesmerizing. I wanted to capture the breath-taking vista of the sea below me, and to relay the feeling that I felt at the moment as I took in the unforgettable sight.
