This is Lyanne’s first compositionally and symbolically complex painting. In this imaginary landscape, a boy wields a toy sword, proclaiming to be “king” of the mountain. Children and animals flock behind him. In this scene, the sword represents power and courage, the kites indicate freedom, and the riderless white stallions suggest purity and good fortune.
