Pocahontas (born Amonute, also known as Matoaka and Rebecca Rolfe; c. 1596 – March 1617)
A Powhatan women known for her interactions with English settlers in Virginia and her role in fostering relations between her people and the colonists.
Pocahontas was a symbol of peace between English settlers and Indigenous groups. She was brought to England as a political symbol.
