This large octopus is painted flat on the walls in the Cleveland Museum of Art's community center. The mural gives a 3-D illusion of the octopus who is drawing the city of Cleveland on the wall next to him.
The patterns seen on the head and tentacles represent the ethnic groups that created the city. His head decorated like a Mexican sugar skull represents the Latino neighborhoods in this area. Instead of suction cups his arms show patterns representing the immigrant groups, such as Irish lace, Polish pottery, Greek patterns, and Russian embroidery.
