Body Count is my reaction to the refugee crisis I witnessed during a trip to Turkey. The dark, turbulent area on the calm green sea is symbolic of the conditions they must have experienced. The Greek stamp with the two doves references the Grek people who helped many of the refugees who landed on their shores. And the red bars are symbolic of each thousand lost. This monotype was juried into the New England Monotype Guild of New England's Fifth National Juried Exhibition by Judith Brodsky, Professor Emeritus Rutger's University.
