The Bear and the Honey Bees
In a serene meadow where wildflowers danced in the breeze, a bear wandered, its nose leading it to the enticing scent of honey. Soon, it came upon a hive nestled on the ground, humming with the gentle activity of bees hard at work. The bear, careful and curious, approached the hive and took just a little honey, savoring its sweetness without disturbing the bees.
As the bear enjoyed its treat, its clumsy paw accidentally grazed a bee. Startled but not aggressive, the bee buzzed up and, with a soft hum, called to a nearby companion. The two bees hovered near the bear, seemingly inquiring, "What’s happening here? Are you a friend or a threat?"
The bear, growing uneasy, swatted at them in frustration. But with that thoughtless act, its massive paw struck the hive itself, toppling it to the ground.
The peaceful hum of the hive turned into chaos. A swarm of bees poured out, enraged by the destruction of their home. They attacked the bear from all sides, stinging furiously. Panicking, the bear roared and flailed, retreating in pain to the safety of the woods.
As the bear licked its wounds, it grumbled bitterly: "All this trouble because I couldn't keep my temper!"
This fable teaches us that "It is wiser to endure small annoyances than to let anger create greater problems." It reminds us that a calm and measured response often prevents far worse consequences.
