The first painting I ever sold, posted on Facebook and purchased by a lovely former High School classmate that connected with it emotionally. Rightfully titled "Isolation", I feverishly took to creating after a bit of a rough year caring for my sick mother as she slipped away from us with Alzheimer's disease just the month before. I hadn't time or energy to paint for a long time and this one was a release of all of that emotion. There is a lyric quoted in the painting by the band Death Cab for Cutie, "building islands where no islands should go". It's about the loneliness of separation from those you love.
