D'Alessandro was born in Italy in 1943, the daughter of an Italian diplomat from Brazil. She studied art in Rome and when her father became consul in Brazil she continued her studies there. The paintings by D'Alessandro have been exhibited in the united states since 1967 with great success. Paintings by D'Alessandro have been on permanent exhibit with the Arnot art dealers in New York since 1967. Her work is well- know in Europe and Latin America as well. D'Alessandro also used nom de plume for subject matter that differed from her typical subject matter of her D'Alessandro paintings including: Goodridge, Humes, Montand, Renot, Marlo, Mitchell, la Boete, Bisset, Lapin, la Vie.

D'Alessandro retired from painting after severe bouts with Lyme's Disease which left her with extreme pain in her joints and has since kept her from her painting studio. D'Alessandro was married to the late artist Luiz Coelho.
