Corporate Selfie confronts the complex realities of globalized labor through a precise, geometric arrangement. A grid of interlocking hexagons forms the artwork’s foundation, with the top section presenting variants of the United States flag in bold red, yellow, and blue tones. Below, the patterns of the Philippines and Indian flags occupy matching hexagonal cells, visually linking these countries within the same network. Four white classical columns rise through the lower portion, symbolically bridging disparate national identities and economic systems.
A consistent golden honeycomb overlay weaves the entire piece together, suggesting both connection and entrapment within a shared economic structure. Scattered metallic bees add texture and subtle shine, evoking the often-overlooked contributions of individuals beneath the surface. The work critically addresses how American corporate profits are sustained by the labor and sacrifices of workers abroad, encapsulating the tensions of reliance and exploitation in a global economy.
