This work is a part of a series of paintings that depict men in bed. The view point of the scene places the viewer next to the subject and he appears to be part of the landscape maybe as the sun or land formations like mountains or dunes. Typically bedroom and reclining poses are reserved for female art models and are seen as below the artist or viewer. I used this view point to use a traditionally feminine scene with men but keeping their strength and beauty in a masculine way. I did this to play with the way an artist creates art and do away with a male gaze and replace it with a human gaze.
