From the series 'Joburg Style Battles'.
Morapedi Manotoana (aka Floyd Avenue), Kepi Mngomezulu, Sibi Sephito, Teekway Makwale, Lebo Makaale, Lebogang Flair stars, and Lebogang Makgale are all creative young South Africans in Soweto who are part of the Smarteez, a 'collective', or rather movement, founded in 2005. The word came from the Smarties chocolate candies, black inside and colored outside. Their clothes are unique with a refined style; blending vintage and re-rendered fabrics, combined with items from flea markets. They share the same passion and desire to explore the possibilities offered by South African diversity in a globalized society. They find their inspiration in the past, their heritage and their roots, but also on the street and in the urban realities they live in, contantly seeking new expressions and new languages.
