Rene is about addiction. Not his, but hers.
Gaetan Huguette's husband came back from Korea addicted badly and Rene's addiction was alcohol but here it is not theirs but hers addiction that is the subject.
Rich families in the 50's and even now I suspect go to horrible extends to cover up shameful events and making a family member addicted sacrificing the ear was no sweat for those educated men of both my natural mother and her sister background.
Ruined lives for money and appearances and destroying mine at the same time who was no sweat .
Rene came and played the saviour role for more than ten years, a simple, rough, uneducated man who saw a woman and a child in total distress sinking.
The impact on the children and the people around the addicted person is enormous and left a huge imprint on my life , my choices and decisions.
She, my foster mother suffered all her life of depression, isolation, abandonment and she was a very good person who did well saving her mind and equilibrium and later on inline saved me from a destructive marriage.
Rene as many other men of this quality was an essential part of my life and left with several tools to go about my own life. A very powerful artwork if you have a family member who is addicted it will resonate strongly with you. Powerful also if you are coming from an foster family who treated you as their own.
